Important rug in a palette of saturated burnt red, plum & tangerine

Impressive old rug from the High Atlas Mountains. The field is animated with various Berber motifs, ancient symbols and, quite rare, some human figures, maybe dancing. These elements are in tones of saffron, white, gray and charcoal. The edges are finished with a flat woven band with stripes. A rare and intriguing piece, rich yet well-balanced. Here a complex story is being narrated by the weaver.
