Natural white background and brown, plus some red, taupe, bright and warm yellow, multicolored fringes
This is a beautiful example of a Moroccan Berber rug, most likely from a tribe in the Atlas Mountains. Traditionally, these rugs were handwoven by
Berber women using the wool of their own family's sheep. The patterns are not random; they often tell a story or represent the weaver's life, beliefs, and emotions. The hand-knotted wool has a
shaggy, uneven texture. The slight irregularities in the checkerboard pattern and the unique arrangement of the colors give it a distinct playful character.
